Mistakes Mums Make With Their First Baby.

Being a parent is actually one of the hardest job.
But you will Love it and won't trade it for anything.
Given what I now know about kids,
I will love to share some first time mum mistakes;

1. Being Territorial;
Have trouble sharing your newborn??
Hahahaha i know the feeling.
You just end up not resting much.
Now I know it takes a village to raise a child and no matter who holds the baby,
you are still the Mummy!!!!
Enjoy the help you receive.

2. Comparing your baby with others;
Even if someone else baby is already solving complex equations.
As long as yours is within the normal range Relax.
Babies develope at their own pace.
Don't waste the precious time to bond with your baby worrying about spitting too much, eating much etc.

3. Babies Cry; Yes you can feed, change diapers and do all but they still just cry.
Babies are designed to cry.
Crying is OK but if your baby becomes inconsolable for 45mins/ 1 hr and has a fever or anything unusual, call your Doctor.

4. Neglecting your spouse;
After a long day of diapering, feeding, rocking, soothing etc.
One is usually exhausted but try and maintain a sence of being a couple despite the new baby.

5.Not sharing responsibility;
Caring for a new born is simply too much work for one person to do alone.
Don't shut out your spouse.
He might not get it a 100% but let him in to diaper, feed etc.

Hope you enjoyed reading this.....
Are you guilty of any?? Do share with us.
Let's learn and have fun together.

  3. Hahaha this post brought crazy flashbacks. I'm so guilty of them all. Infact I am still guilty n will be guilty for a long time. Every first-time mum is a mother hen. I can remember crying with my baby when she was just few months. She was colicky for almost 4months. I also recall telling my husband not to kiss her, I thought I was the only one permitted to do so. Even when I have someone helping me with her I still cut them one eye before they do chioma ajunwa with my baby. Oh!!dear being a first-time mum is interesting n overwhelming.

  5. Talking about letting men into feeding and diapering, some men can't stand the fragile nature of new borns. Someone like me won't even feel comfortable letting them do it. I would rather prefer they sit and carry the baby when they want to. So maybe, I'm guilty of that.
