Looking for a Daycare or Preschool??
Selecting a Daycare or Preschool for your child is a very important decision.
Your baby of yesterday is about to begin a new phase.
You are excited right?? Or mixed feelings??
You are allowed to feel both #smiling#.
Looking for the right school could be hetic since there are numerous schools.
So I will say start early, do your research and follow your instinct.
Nothing like mummy instinct #winks#...
And Daddy instinct too #lol#....
You will know the exact school when you feel it.
Although there are some factors and necessary questions to ask such as;
1. Cost;
During my search I remember hearing some funny prices
you can't help but wonder " is this amount just to learn A,B,C & 1,2,3" #LOL#.
Anyway I am pretty sure those schools have their benefits.
But I advice to consider the size of your Pocket while choosing.
2. Environment/ Security.
A clean and secured environment is key.
Your child will be spending a good amount of time there.
3. School Hours.
What's the duration of hours each day.
Is there an extra cost if they stay beyond the normal hours.
4. Location of the school.
Proximity to your house or work.
Or Is there a good transport system?
5. Class size.
6. Staff/ Child Ratio.
7. Curriculum
8. Teachers Credentials
9. Children friendly Staff
10. Visitor Policy.
11. How is discipline handled.
12. Feeding Schedule
13. What is the policy regarding sick kids?.
Ask as much questions as possible and be conscious of any "red flag".
Spend time observing during the tours and Ask Yourself
" Is this the kind of environment I can see my young child thriving in".
If the answer is YES!!
Then Congratulations you have found the school.
What was your experience like when searching for a school for your child?????

Awesome write up,very useful tips.... my contribution is more like a question.mums in the house How did you guys deal with your wards reaction when you dropped them off at school before they adapted. I'm facing a similar challenge now. I even started by leaving her in the church Sunday school hoping maybe that will give us a head start. But my child cried out her heart & I felt like I'm the worst mum on planet earth. How do I deal with this? She has to go to school and I need to get some rest too as body no be fire wood
ReplyDeleteI started dropping my son at day care when he was 2 month old. I didn't have the mind but I have to go to school and finished up my studies because I was in my final stage. While I keep praying to God for his protection. Atleast he got use to school and kids, more friendly and social. Sometimes I feel so jealous because he prefers school that home ( lots of Toys and kids to play with). @chizzy Mba, gradually she will adapt to the school environment but you have to be strong enough.
